The coffee series

So, I don't have a whole lot to show you guys in terms of exploring-ness, so I decided to instead show you guys some of the sketches from my sketchbook. I'm titling them "the coffee series" because the game I've been playing with myself is that every time I get a cup of coffee I have to draw someone in the cafe. It's based off of the assignment we got from my art teacher, which was to do a daily drawing. She wanted it to be a standard kind of thing- waiting for the bus, after doing homework, etc. It's been a difficult and slightly sketchy game, especially because sometimes people that I think I'm drawing surrepticiously definitely notice, and then I'm just that creeper in the corner drawing people. Sometimes I tell people that I'm doing an art project and ask them for their permission, which is awkward but then I seem less sketchy.

Anyway quick overview of the last couple of days: I did some homework, drank some coffee (of course), and that's about it. I went to get tea with a few girls today. Let's just say that "getting tea" doesn't literally mean getting tea. In this scenario, "getting tea" meant "watching four other girls rant and rave about how delicious the scones and tea-cakes and cup-cakes were, while being hungry and sipping peach tea that didn't even taste that good." We can call it an exercise in self control. Character building.

So, here are some of the sketches. None of them are phenomenal- for the most part I've only got a couple of minutes to draw people before it gets weird. Also the camera whited them out a bit. Disclaimer complete.

The magnificent and infuriating tower of things I could only look at, salivating.

Becky, at our hostel in Inverness.

Becky again. Just fyi I didn't make anyone pose, I just drew them while we were all talking.

Karin.

Guy in cafe.

Guy that I just realized I drew slightly cross-eyed. Damnit.

Guy in cafe. I might need to get more original than that.

Camila.

Camila on the bus. I was using a bigger pen, so it turned out kind of weirdly picasso-esque. Camila wasn't thrilled.

Girl in cafe. Ha! Changing it up.

Girl in cafe. What else would I call it??

Cute guy in cafe. There, better.
Okay that's all, folks.

Oh wait I almost forgot!!! I didn't actually see this, but last week there was a highland cow on ashton lane!! For a photo shoot of some kind, apparently. They don't actually wander the streets of the city. Valerie walked by and took a picture. HOW COOL??

Random, but so so wonderful.
Pooh quote: "A Useful Pot can make you glad. It's for putting things in."

Much love,
Erin
