Hi guys!
So I've officially been here one month, today! I don't really know how I feel about it- I've got some serious cognitive dissonance on the subject. On one level, I feel like I've been here forever. I know my route to school and I know the people and I know the coffee shops. At the same time, though, I feel like yesterday I was at Bowdoin freaking out about my finals. I can't really reconcile the two views. Not that it really matters one way or another.
This week has been nice so far. Yesterday we found a new coffee shop- "the Bibliocafe-" and stayed there for over two hours. It's a second-hand bookstore as well as a kickass coffee place. Every flavor, syrup, or bean you could imagine. Plus the barista is really nice. Went back today, and we chatted for a bit. Today I also went for "a play, a pie, and a pint" at Oran More, which is a church turned pub/playhouse/nightclub. It was fun! Aside from the fact that I couldn't actually have two-thirds of the deal. Also since it was a wednesday at one, I was very entertained by seeing the elderly population of glasgow. They were funny, I think that the wednesday midday play is a routine thing for them. Funky, very Glasgwegian style. The play itself was good- though only 45 minutes and darkly comical. With a title like "Bunnies" I guess you have to expect some dark satire.
I've finally got some work to do, too! And yeah, I'm excited about that. It's hard to believe I'm at school when I literally haven't had any work to do. So, I'll relish the work as a declaration that I am actually living in reality.
Factoid: The first verified printed use of the F-word comes in a 1503 poem by William Dunbar, a Scottish Poet, entitled ‘Ane Brash of Wowing’
Okay so that's all. Think I'll head to the gym quickly now.
Pooh quote: "If the string breaks, try another piece of string."
Much love,
Erin
