Exploring AND finding my way back

Today I walked to campus with another girl, and it took about an hour but it wasn't so bad. When it gets warmer I think it could actually be very lovely- in the spring I think the park will be very pretty and not as completely treacherously covered in ice. I got my official "matric" card this morning, complete with a very unflattering picture (vaguely like a sleepy rabbit?) so hurray I'm official! I used it to explore the library (which is HUGE! 11 floors!) the student unions, and the gym. GET THIS! The gym has a free-running class. No kidding- it's called "Urban Workout" and it meets once a week. Number one goal in life: now in progress.

After my class (Celtic Civilization again) I explored Byre Road, which has lots of nice shops and cafes. Along the way I found a flower shop and a used book store (it had a winding staircase and one of those ladders like from Beauty and the Beast!) so I bought a small crocus and a couple of old maps (one of scotland, which I will mark up with the places I travel to, and one of the world with stamps that represent each country).

I got a bit lost, and was walking  for a pretty long time. Me exploring solo has its hazards. I forgot to mention, but yesterday I got lost in the psychology building. Like, I actually couldn't find my way out. Had to ask for help from a random Professor. Anyway! What's really weird is that even though it took me about 2 hours to wander out to wherever I was, it only took me like 15 minutes to get back (???). I was pretty much frozen by the time I got to campus. But I eventually got feeling back in my toes, so no worries.

Took the bus back and made it to Wolfson in time for dinner, and now a few of us are going to go hang out and watch a movie. Here are some pics from the day:

This isn't the main gate or anything, but the sunlight was hitting it in a really nice way. Also note: SUNLIGHT. Factoid: Scotland has it.

This is one symbol for the UK; it represents England. The other is a unicorn, and represents Scotland.

This is the plant I got, which I have yet to name. I'm open to suggestions.

My room! Complete with two maps!

The other half of my room! The pictures on the wall are by McKintosh, the Scottish architect.
So! That's that, I guess. Pooh quote: "Pooh looked at his two paws. He knew that one of them was the right, and he knew that when you had decided which one of them was the right, then the other one was the left, but he could never remember how to begin."

Ha! I'm not alone!

Much love,
Erin
