Just a quick entry. Haven't really been up to anything, just finding a class routine. Yesterday I had my first Life Drawing class at the Glasgow School of Art. Loved the studio, loved the professor, didn't love the actual class. We did gesture drawings (30 second drawings) for the entire class. I hate them- stressful and frustrating. But, I think that we're pretty much done with them at this point. Only one other student has a real art background, so we're starting from the basics. It's good to get a fresh perspective, anyway.
Went to lunch at "Where the Monkey Sleeps" across the street. Wonderful. Can't wait to go there next week. My life is so absolutely governed by food that it makes me sad sometimes. Anyway- today I had my neuro class for the second time and it wasn't as horrendously traumatizing as last week! I was ready for the absurdly fast pace today, came prepared with the slides already printed out, and actually enjoyed it! We learned about hemispheric neglect and object recognition patterns- way cooler than it sounds. Basically, we learned about the neurology behind "the man who mistook his wife for a hat." (Oliver Sacks).
Planning on going to the gym in a minute. Going to Edinburgh tomorrow! The Oban this weekend! Ahhh! Will try to update tomorrow night with pics.
Here are a couple of pics of the art school:
The facade. |
The library. Students don't actually study in here though! I guess it's "preserved" or whatever. Not cool. |

Much love,
