So. Today. More orientation-y things this morning. Lots of cell-phone-number switching. Oh! There's a club volleyball team, so that's exciting. Went out for lunch and found a sandwich place that suggested that I bring in bread, and they'll make me my very own gluten free sandwich. Exciting! Then we went on a bus tour of Glasgow, which was very lovely. Glasgow is really fantastic and I can't wait to explore it more. The tour was kind of a tease, because we didn't stop anywhere, we only got to see what we haven't seen yet. No pictures, still, because the windows were cruddy and I didn't want pictures through them. We had our first full view of the university! It's GORGEOUS! Hogwarts, basically. The old campus was first constructed in 1450 (factoid!) and it looks it. Turrets and towers and a highly dignified presence. Can't wait to look around more. The city center is lovely, too. The buildings aren't too tall, but there are streets only for pedestrians and plenty of old buildings mixed in with newer ones. There is a place called "Yankee square" which boasts a McDonalds, Burger King, and Subway. It made me sad.
After the tour a bunch of us went to Tesco and I bought the stupid things that I'd forgotten before and gluten-free bread- WITH NUTTY GOODNESS! I've never seen nicer looking celiac-friendly bread (which isn't necessarily saying a lot, true).
After that, dinner and hanging out. I think I might stop by a couple of people's rooms tonight and say hi.
Tomorrow is our big Edinburgh bus tour day!!! Then there is a caeli (scottish dancing) followed by free entry to a club that is housed in an old church (I'm excited to see what that could possibly look like on the inside).
So, a picture for today...I think I'll cheat and give you a google-one of the university. It's just so pretty!!!! (fourth oldest english speaking university!! Oxford, Cambridge, St. Andrews come first.
THAT'S where I'm going to school. Can't get over it. |
And pooh quote: "Everybody is all right really. That's what I think."
Much love. -Erin
