So, I leave for my semester abroad in Glasgow (no, not Edinburgh!), Scotland, in two days. I'm a jumble of thoughts and feelings right now- I'm eager and I'm anxious and I'm excited and I'm terrified. Because of the latter bit I've done a couple of slightly absurd things: I now own both a Rick Steve's money belt (which has a nice and not at all conspicuous tail that hangs out of my shirt) and a travel lock (which I can't for the life of me figure out how to set). So yeah, I'm all set.
So, factoid for today: purchasing items under stress not a good idea. Also, calling a Scottish thistle a rose is apparently very offensive. Stress-read that in a book today. Oh, yeah, and I've decided that I'm including something I learn for every blog entry I write. Knowing me, most of them will probably pertain to navigation failures.
As I was packing today (and by that I mean spewing assorted clothing and miscellaneous gadgetry all over my room) I found a little book of Winnie the Pooh quotes. Because I'm me, I decided that in spite of the complete lack of space in my suitcase, this little book is something I'm going to bring. In addition to my factoids, I'm going to include a semi-relevant winnie the pooh quote in each of my blog entries. Because I'm that awesome.
Here's one for today: “You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” I'm with you, Pooh. Here I come, Scotland!
To my friends and family, much much love. Also much pissed-off-ness if you don't post responses/call/email/skype! My email is edagosti@bowdoin.edu, and my skype is under Erin D'Agostino.
Oh, also, a picture per entry! This is Kerry about a minute ago, completely asleep watching "Rick Steve's Europe."
XOXO Erin
